Episode 12 is LIVE. This episode covers the last several days of posting, including lots of talk about Indecision 2000, Voteswap, KDE2, conspiracy theories, and of course, Snoop Dogg sings kids songs ... "the hos on the bus go down on me, down on me, down on me ..." I really like this episode, and I think you will too.

Read This Now! If for nothing else than seeing Linus Torvalds, in a photo, miming the contorted position Bill Gates had in a stock photo shown during the "MS Hacked" news stories, looking like the Penguin from Batman ...

Oh My God, I think I just stumbled onto something ... The Penguin, Linus, Bill, it all makes sense ... oh no ...too ... much ... conspiracy ... theories ...

Apparently, just wait 10:13 after the last track of the X-Files soundtrack, and Chris Carter Explains It All.

so, after the last post, creon asked me if the nfin was for real, or just a very clever satire. i must inform you all, it's all too serious and maintained by a frog, worse even, a canadian frog.

I just got this ridiculous e-mail from Pat Buchanan through Vote.com, a supposedly objective site where former Clinton political strategist Dick Morris (?!!) makes the Internet get your opinion heard, and it's such farking infuriating spam that I had to share it here:

Dear Vote.com voter:

Presidential candidate Pat Buchanan has asked us to forward the following response to the e-mails we have sent to him on your behalf.

----------------------------------------

Dear Vote.com voter:

Thank you for sharing your views with me through the Vote.com system. As you know, I stand unabashedly for conservative principles: smaller government, lower taxes, the right to life, immigration and trade reform, and a foreign policy that will send America's finest men and women into danger only if our vital national interests are at stake. I am the only candidate who is not running to the left but is standing firm for what we both believe in. And I am building a third party that in the future will fight for those same principles.

In the heat of these final days before the election, I need your help to pay for the tremendously expensive programs that broke the Establishment parties ' (sic) lock on ballot access, and put my name on the November 7th ballot across the country. If you can help me [Editor's note: SNIP!] to send me whatever you can -- $1,000, $500, $250, $100 or even $50 or $25. Anything you can contribute will help!

[Ed. note: URL to send him blood money deleted]

Sincerely,
Pat Buchanan

Please at least check out each of the links, because they'll tell you the hidden truth behind this machiavellian fascist's verbal diarrhea. And if you *still* vote for him, I'll just have to hunt you down and slap the stupid out of you.

KDE 2.0 is Out!
Yes, I know officially I'm in the GNOME camp, as is my trusty friend Rhino (though that took some convincing), KDE 2.0 is fucking amazing, at least on paper. Too many widgets are still too big and blocky, but it's gettin' slicker and more powerful. Full review next episode...

Episode X11R6 has been recorded and is coming down the pike ... Check out Live365 tonight to listen to our latest wackiest show ...

This time 'round we've got Carnivore redux, amiga.os.die.die.die, more MacOS X frustrations, porn, naughty words, references to adult subjects and this weeks mission, to design my tattoo.

BountyQuest is a joint venture from Tim O'Reilly and Jeff Bezos (founder, Amazon, ring a bell?) that came out of the "one-click" shopping lame-ass patent fallout that O'Reilly took Bezos before Senate over. BountyQuest allows anybody to find evidence of prior art for a patent, and they collect a "bounty" put up by someone who wants to find prior art (either they're contesting a patent, want to research their own patent, or want to stomp Amazon.com like the bitches they are). There's USD$300,000+ up for grabs, and they just launched on Wednesday.

It's wacky, it's distributed, it's free money.

"SDMI Cracked" PR flack flashback. The Recording Industry assmonkeys that wanted a new, "secure" digital music format - as opposed to the effective but anarchic MP3 >:/ - have gotten smacked like a red-headed stepchild. The format was very publicly cracked in an hour, and their spin-doctor drones are going bananas.

Hey, remember that "Crack the Win2K Server" contest? (I had to involve Micro$oft somehow!)

just wanted to say: i heard a rumor around the water cooler today (that's not a euphemism, it actually happened. aint that cool? ok, so it's not. now shut the fuck up, assholes): apparently, Apple is referring to their forthcoming os as "Oh-Ess-Ten" because they didnt want people to end up saying "Oh-Ess-Sex." and lest we forget, this isnt the first time this shit has happened. even if it is bullshit, i command you: go ye forth to usenet and spread the meme!

Alright kids, Mozilla Milestone 18 is out, and if you haven't started experimenting with Mozilla yet, now's the time. It's just about feature-complete, pretty damn stable, and from here on in it will be faster on Windows than Netscape, and at full release (sans debugging code, plus code optimization) faster than IE, I bet. And completely standards-compliant!

Places like Mozdev.org will give you an introduction to all the different projects built on Mozilla as a cross-platform VD VM, from Pac-Man to alternate shells to XMLterm to MozOffice, combining StarOffice with Mozilla.

And for you lamers using AOL Instant Massager, check out the Netscape 6 PR3 for the AIM client built in XUL.
